People base success in terms of wealth. They come up with this conclusion based solely on what they see and observe. When they see you drive luxurious cars, own numerous business establishments and live in lucrative houses people will automatically think that whoever is behind the wheel, or whose names appear on the buildings or the ones who live in those gigantic houses are indeed successful.
Success can also be equalled to fame. That’s how other people define it. Hollywood actors or even local showbiz personalities whose faces are plastered on tabloids and on the covers of famous magazines give readers and subscribers the idea that truly they are successful for they’ve reached stardom and every single soul has quite the idea of who they are.
When we were kids, we’ve always wanted to be somebody. Make a name for ourselves and if granted the opportunity, at least just make it through the relentless and chaotic competition in our chosen field. And as parents, we’ve always wanted our kids to become successful in their profession. No parent would want their child to become unsuccessful.
Simple day-to-day experiences can be a success if we just have the right perspective about it and be grateful for the positive things that happen in our lives.
Like a mother who gives birth to a healthy newborn, the delivery is believed to be successful because no other complications were encountered during the entire process.
A child who was born with a birth defect (ex. Cleft lip) and was submitted for surgery. The surgery resulted to a child who appears normal and without any trace of his old self prior to the operation. With all certainty, the surgical procedure is considered a success. A man who has worked so hard for a company and was promoted to a higher position, a position he has been working hard to achieve, will indeed consider himself successful. While others would think of it differently, the one who managed to get what he desires no matter how lowly it may seem like to others is still successful in his own way.
But what do we truly know about success? Different views about success definition have been named but success is actually just achieving something that you desire whatever it may be. Success can be seen when a person is able to accomplish a task and finishes it before the deadline and it would be a plus when the results are highly satisfactory. You see, success is all around us.
You don’t depend on others to tell you who you are or what you have become because success is purely subjective.
Different versions of success definition have come to our attention. Success stories all around the world have become widespread in the news, on the internet and on television. In a way it motivates those who have somehow encountered failure and have chosen to just give up on their dreams to choose a different path instead.
No one can actually put a precise success definition because in all honesty, success varies from one individual to the other. The liberating feeling of overcoming the fears of failure can be a successful achievement for those suffering from it. Or, from the popular belief that it stems from having an overflow of cash, then an influential mogul who has managed to build a business empire regardless of how he did it can consider himself successful.
It all boils down to this, whoever you may be and wherever you are in this labyrinth of a planet, if you believe that success can actually happen to you and if you set your heart to making your dreams a reality, no matter how hard it may be to get there, then you’re on your way to an enjoyable, fulfilling and exciting journey towards success.
